Customer Objective
One of India’s largest Quick Service Restaurant wanted to launch its products in Mumbai. We started distribution in 1998 with two 10 feet trucks (1.5MT) carrying frozen and chilled products.
Challenges
Temperature control and monitoring, delivery schedules and poor infrastructure were some of the challenges the customer had encountered in the market. Drivers were not used to reefer transportation, both from a driving and delivery perspective. In addition, stock reconciliation and quality compliances were key considerations for them in vendor evaluation.
Our Solution
We systematically invested in training staff and drivers, new technology including GPS, and moved to independent temperature management. As volumes grew, we kept upgrading the portfolio of trucks and the tonnage. Over the last 15 years, we have serviced the entire western region with over 25 trucks catering to 150 stores, with distances ranging from 3km to 1000km and managing all this within a shelf life of the product which is less than 3 days. We have been recognized as a preferred partner and are now expanding to other regions.
